Rambling

Well they replaced my spiffy, black mailbox with this ugly, white one but at least it's in one piece.

This field of cotton is on the south side of us. The farmer has allowed some experimental group to plant a test plot of sorts so periodically they come out and do whatever. If you look closely in this photo you'll see some folks out there hand picking some cotton. They must be picking in different chosen spots in the field cause if they were doing some serious picking, as they did when I remember seeing folks picking cotton back in the old days, that field would be empty of cotton after two good days of picking. I took this on their second day of being there.

Dang, the photo resized doesn't let you see the pickers.

There is something about a cotton field and we have plenty down on the coastal lands in Texas. I like seeing them but don't like following one of those trailers full of cotton.

What a pretty picture, Brenda. The clouds, the trees, the cotton, the bit of tree visible in the right hand corner. It's nice to sip my coffee and have a visit in your neck of the woods.

:)

Have a good one.

I'd be out there sippin mine Miz Leslie, if it weren't so danged hot.

We don't use cotton trailers around here anymore David,,haven't in about 9 or 10 years now. But we still get the farm equipment on the roads and that makes for some pokey driving.

I don't know why but I love to see a pretty cotton field but I don't tell my mother that because she is very quick to say it is because I never had to get out and pick any. I will say I had my time in tobacco and it was right before the harvestars and you still had the good ole days of picking it by hand and stricking it at the barn....oh the memories of farm life.... Those are beautiful pictures you shared here.

I lived in South Carolina for 10 years, and don't believe I've ever seen a cotton field. And I spent a bit of time in central Texas as well.

Surely does make a pretty picture.
