Just Sittin'

and watching rain clouds in the North, in the South, over there in the East, and even in the West and nary more than a drop has landed in my yard. I can even SEE it raining over yonder! Yesterday we even entertained ourselves by sitting outside in the shade to watch the rain miss us.

I'm truly thankful for the 3 inches of rain we got over a week ago, but it sure would be nice to get a little more every so often.

Maybe someone around here isn't living right.

I bet it's this farmer who's got me surrounded with corn fields.
The 2 Headed Mayfly

The other day James took Zach and his buddy, Michael, over to the river to drown some bait for a bit. Zach is a serious and intent little fisherman and will hang out with a fishing pole beside a body of water for as long as you'll let him. Michael, not so much. Michael gets bored easily.

So, on this day, Michael was catching bugs instead of fishing. James said he came running over to him and said, "I've found a really RARE bug Mr. James. He's got two heads!" His face fell when James had to explain to him that it only appeared to have 2 heads because it was actually 2 Mayflies making little baby Mayflies.

When I lived in KY we had a farm that surrounded our house...I hated the years when they would plant corn...I felt so closed in and suffocated...yuck! And the heat makes it smell...
Doin' a (((rain dance))) for ya!!

LOL at the two headed dragonfly...such a cute story!! Hopefully you'll get more of that much needed rain soon...we've been supposed to get rain for the last 3 days but except for a 2 minute shower yesterday, nothing!! xox

Hrm, bugs having sex. Nothing like an innocent kid to make your day.

We've had rain, when we aren't having tornadoes. Be glad you aren't in Texas or Oklahoma. But I know when you farm the rain is OH so important. I hope you get some soon!

I think its sweet that Zach is such a dedicated fisher - its a rare thing these days to see a kid sit patiently for anything. We are "now now now" society.

I know what you mean about the rain missing you - it happened again to us last night. We finally got a little moisture today, but not nearly enough. ec

We've finally gotten much needed rain, but I'm thinkin you guys need it much more.

Zach will grow up enjoying the finer things in life, thanks to you and James. I remember my little brother = mom took him fishing before he could walk. Still goes every chance he gets!!

Gads, you are in the banana belt. So are we. It will rain in Victoria and Seattle but be sunny here! Shhhhh.

We got poured on last week when it wasn't supposed to rain, then when there was an 80% chance, it didn't rain spit. Those mayflies are ugly creatures, aren't they?

the birds and the bees and two headed mayflies! Up here it's the Japanese beetles and it's a free for all. As many as can pile on. It's like the late 60's early 70's all over again. There were so many piled on in one spot it resembled a circus act... slightly tilted version... like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Summer is so fleeting here that I think I'd enjoy yours more. Last time I went fishing I was just a kid, maybe around Zach's age or a little older. That's been a loooong time.

Did you ever notice how often you see dragonflies flittiing around in twos?
