Could have been nasty

The weather bullet missed us but not before it put a glaze of ice on the trees and bushes. The photo above is of the cedar tree in my front yard. His limbs are heavy and drooping this morning, but I don't think any of them are broken so he'll fluff back out as soon as all the ice melts (hopefully today). James and the neighbor were talking about my "ugly" cedar tree and how if the ice did a lot of damage they would cut it down. I promised to take potshots of them with the BB gun if they even imagined they'd cut down my tree! I've been growing that tree for almost 17 years! That tree blocks the afternoon sun from reaching my front door in the summer, and provides a little bit of protection from the dust clouds every time a vehicle goes down the road. If they mess with my tree they'll be limping!

Here's how the plum tree looked about mid-afternoon yesterday. I didn't notice any broken limbs on it either so all is well for now. I hope we don't get any major ice storms this winter, I'd hate to lose any of our trees!

I remember the ice storms in Memphis and in Little Rock.
We have snow, always lots of it but I do believe the ice was worse.
Take care, and stay warm.
Watch out for the other driver!!!

Oh that's a bad time for your beautiful trees! Hope they will defrost soon!

Ice can really do a job on trees. We lost some branches this year from a couple of "older" trees in our yard this year.

Good for you for threatening the guys with a BB gun if they even dare touch your tree! hehe It's too darn cold over here for us to have any kind of precipitation but starting tomorrow we're supposed to get a few days of snow. Like we need more snow! Oy! xoxo

The snow is so heavy on my large cedars that they have split apart with the weight. But, they will come back, they always do.

I'm so glad we missed the ice this go round. We just had lots of cold rain. I hope to see the sun tomorrow! Stay warm and don't let anyone near your trees - hehe!

That is a -beautiful- cedar! In connecticut they don't get full like that. It's well worth protecting :-)

Oh, my, Brenda! Ice storms are awful, aren't they? We got a wee bit of ice this morning, but it was just a little to scrap off the windshields.
Those trees are flexible, I'll bet it will pop right back up.
