Just a tad on the lazy side.,,,

I'm still sniffing and snorting some from the last cold and James passed a new one on to me. I hurried out and bought a new bottle of vitamins with minerals so maybe if I get back in the habit of taking them again I won't be killing so many trees by using up so many kleenex, napkins, and toilet paper for blowing this honking big nose of mine.

I decided to take some benedryl for my watering eyes this morning and go back to bed. Benedryl makes me very sleepy but it doesn't shut out the squawks and whistles of Ya-Ya, who was pissed off because I dared to go to the bedroom where he couldn't see me. He paid no attention when I threatened to pluck him, and only hissed at me a little when I mentioned BBQed Ya-Ya on a stick.

The males around this place are so self-absorbed.

James made half a dozen trips in and out of the house this morning before he finally remembered, and found, all the things he'd forgotten, or lost, and went on his way to hunt poor, defenseless little quails. I thought about telling him he needed to tie a string around his finger, but after his 3rd trip back into the house, with wet boots on, I really wanted to tell him he needed to tie a rope around his neck so he'd remember. I did neither,,, I guess I'm getting kinder, gentler, less willing to start an argument in my old age. I even called his cell phone for him so he could track it down by listening for the ring. Wasn't that nice of me? (well it was, I could have insisted that he call himself!)

Zach's been having his annual instruction on Black History again and was surprised when his PopPop and I were able to answer all his questions correctly. He found it hard to understand that we'd actually been alive when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968. I'm also not sure he believes me when I tell him we used to have a dinosaur as a pet.

We've been wrestling with math homework again and today it was fractions. He's 3 days into a new semester, he was out of school for 2 weeks, and he had fractions last semester, (which was 2 weeks ago). Now he's acting as though he's never seen this stuff before. It makes me so frustrated that I want to run away, I'm just not sure where I'd go, or how far I'd get, with gas prices competing with the price of gold.

Oh, and since we're on the subject of prices, has anyone been able to afford beef lately? Corn, rice, wheat, and other grains, and soybean prices are higher now than I've ever seen them in my lifetime (probably anyone's lifetime). The farmers are ecstatic that the profits are rolling in but I wonder if any of them have been in a grocery store lately? (James went with me and he nearly had a cow,,, which would have been a good thing!) It could be that a good bit of those profits are going to go into their belly's. And it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

I'll be clucking soon due to all the chicken I've been buying (but it's going up too, just doesn't make my heart stop when I see the price,,,,at least not yet).

Okey Dokie, I'm done for the day. I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Take the Juice Plus to help avoid the colds and flu. It may sound crazy, but it really works if you take it and keep taking it. I helps with alot of other problems as well. Take care of yourself. I need my big sis around for many more years.

Love you,
Sis

There's lots of chicken around here, too. Ground turkey instead of ground beef. Every now and then we go meatless. (I can only get by with that with spaghetti)
And the other day I made one can of beef stew stretch out to feed three of us by adding a big bag of frozen veggies. You just had to search around for the beef!

Argh.....don't even get me started on the price of groceries....even milk is going up, up and UP!!! Not to mention Gas here is $3.50 a gallon. Yikes!! Good thing we take them grocery shopping sometimes just so they know how much that meat they want costs!!!

Good Morning Brenda,
I'm sorry your still not feeling well. I do hope you will get to feeling better soon. Benadryl is a good thing. LOL. It makes me sleepy too. I haven't bought any beef in a while. I can't afford it. I usually buy chicken or ground chuck. Even those are on the pricey side. I buy alot of frozen foods as well. Tis alot easier and quicker. LOL. Gas here in our town is $3.09 a gallon. That is just so unfair. You can't even afford to drive to the Gas Station let alone buy the gas. There has been alot of people around here sickly also. I do think it's this weather we are having. We didn't get anything Severe here the other day. All we got was just a little rain. It was on the other hand Severe around us tho. When you have time Brenda, stop by. I have something for you on my today's post. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I hope you're feeling better - and got a good nap.

We find everything costing more these days too. I thought a lot of the extra $$$ went to pay for transporting the stuff to local markets.

LOL! Everyone has their remedies. Okay, mine is that daily I drink 48 oz. of water (24 oz bottles) I put one Emergen-C in each one along with a flavored tea. I teach and live in a wonderful area where you don't know if you are going to be hot or cold. If I feel a cold coming on I double up and take one package with 1-2 inches of hot water 3-4 times a day. No colds for going on 3 years.....

Although we don't really eat much red meat we do consume gasoline. I think I am going to get me a little electric golf cart... at 30 mph how long would it take me to go 5 miles. Give that to Zach to figure out. I would be run over on the roads here on my way to work in the dark.

Have a safe and dreamy day Girl!!

I am officially an Airborne convert. I love that stuff, it works and fast. I get the kind you dissolve in water. It tastes like ass, so when it's fully dissolved, I add some cranberry juice to it. Helps it go down much smoother.

I haven't been to the butcher in a while. I buy bulk batches of stuff, so when I go next I'll check out the prices.

I can't afford the Juice Plus sweet sister, if they'd make it as affordable as vitamins I'd take em every day.

I'm not real crazy about beef anyway Miz Jazzi, except for hamburger, and It hurts my heart to look at the price of a lb of ground round.

Bermudabluez, cows eat corn and other grains so that, on top of the cost of transporting, is making our food and milk go up so high. I told the service station owner the other day that there was a time when my car payment was less than what I'm paying for a tank of gas now. Ouch!

I hope you and Ed are feeling better soon Miz Tine. Flu is such a nasty bug! I've had my flu shot this year so I hope to avoid that bug.

Glad you didn't blow away Miz Karen. We had some storms this morning with lots of lightning (even tripped our transformer and put out the lights for a bit), but nothing that looked tornadic.

There was quite a jump back last year for grocery prices due to the gas prices but the severe climb in prices since November have been because there's a shortage in feed grain because so much is going towards alternative fuels. (shortages = higher prices) Also the grain prices the farmers are getting is a big part of it. It may be time for us to go on a diet around here. :-)

I'll have Zach figure that out Miz Cindra. You know he'll be moaning and groaning. Ha! I stopped taking my vitamins every day back in the summer. I'll look into the Emergen-C.

I bought James some Zycam when his cold first started. I'm gonna see if it bothers him before I'll try it. (hehehehe) I hate nasty tasting stuff.

Hope you get to feeling better sweet. I can only take the Benedryl when i'm by myself or mom is with me. I'll sleep for at least 14 hours on just one and I wont hear anything or even move...

Math homework...uuuhhhgggg...My daughter can't imagine how I graduated high school let alone college. She brings me her math and I just have the deer in the headlights look, LOL!

Have a good evening sweet!

I'm having to learn a whole lot that I forgot a long time ago Miz Crystal. Gives me a right big headache too. I persuade the school to sell me a math book every year so I can study up on it before I have to help.

I wish I could get a math book from Sam's school but for the past two years the have had a shortage of them, making the kids just bring home copies of pages or they have to do it in class....

Have a good weekend sweet!
