You Know What?

It's a blessing and a miracle that the kidnapped Missouri boys, Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck, were found and returned to their families, but I get this feeling that the parents of Shawn and Ben are contributing to a continuation of their explotation by appearing, with them in tow, on national television.

How could they?

I refused to watch the interviews but caught a glimpse of Shawn's face on one of the news programs. It broke my heart.

Don't even get me started on the media and televisions hosts, Oprah needs her skinny ass kicked!

My heart aches for those boys and I can't think of one single punishment that would be harsh enough for that evil excuse of a man who took them. As for the parents,,,I just don't know what else to say,,,those poor boys.

To give those boys back a normal life is going to take some doing.

They should have all the good family time and all the counselling they need.

And the spotlight doesn't fit in.

I just barely know what you're talking about for the same reason. I've just stayed away.

Yes, how could they?? These boys will have enough adjusting to do without the constant publicity, especially the older one!!!! They were on Larry King last night...UNREAL!!!
Can we call them GORE mongers? Is that a term that describes?? I blame Oprah as much as them...Man, if you have all the gold of California and all the ratings, is that not enough??

She's (Oprah) as much about the sensationalism as any other media personality out there. The only one she's fooling is herself.

I agree. Why don't they just leave those boys alone and let them heal. It's sad...

I completely agree with you Brenda...those boys have gone through enough without having to face the media like that all the time. They should be protected from public scrutiny and get back to as normal a life as they can!!

oh my God, I completely agree, I was eating dinner in the dining hall and they had Oprah on, doing this interview, I couldn't believe it! What was she thinking?! If they want to talk, than just let the parents on, not the boy, he probably doesn't even know what he is saying.
I think Elizabeth Smart's parents were much better in this regard, they kept her out of the spotlight for a long time.

So true, it is time to let the boys heal. I've not commented much, still can't sit too long. ec
