Civic Duty

I did it.
It's done.
I voted.

Zach's doctor's appointment went well, the doctor is going to try him on medication for the ADHD but not of the stimulating sort. He's to take Strattera (one of the newer meds) for 2 weeks and then we'll return for evaluation to see if this stuff might work. I'm as nervous as 'ho' in church on Sunday but I promise, I'll be watching for any and all signs of trouble. Doc Bell said he'd be around, except for a few days at deer camp, over the next two weeks if I should need to grill him any more. He's lucky I didn't ask him where he'd be hunting. Ha!

And while I was at the doctor's office anyway, I threw caution to the wind and took a flu shot for the first time in around 36 years. When we lived in England all those years ago, we had to be inoculated for everydangedthing, every year, and every year I'd be sick enough, for two weeks, that I thought I was dying. After coming back to the states I avoided those flu shots like the plague and only had the flu 2 or 3 times in all those years. This thing I have with my heart has made me reconsider though and after finding out they no longer inoculate with a live virus, I let them stick me. If I get sick and die from the inoculation, ya'll sue em for me and have a blogger party, ok?

Hope ya'll are having a nice evening!

I've heard good things about the new ADHD drugs. With the stimulants, we always had to watch for that 'drugged' look. That usually meant the dosage was too high. None of us have tried any of the newer stuff yet, so I don't know what it's like. We've had the doctor suggest it, but I figure, let's not fix what ain't broke. You'll have to let us know what you think of Strattera.

Hope the medication works for both of you, Brenda. Stay healthy!

Sure will be thinking good thoughts for both you and the little one. And, thanks for the reminder about the flu shot!

Oh, and yes I voted also. However, I think one of my degenerate relatives cancelled me out! :)

kyle takes straterra and it has been the best one he has been on...he even "wants" to take it and says he feels better when he does!

Hey you better be at that party!!! lol I have never had the flu shot in my life and have no intention of ever getting it. I very rarely get sick with the flu...watch, I'll wake up with it tomorrow! lol I know, though, that sometimes it's best to get it. I do hope the new medication Zach will be taking will help him!!! Take care!

I had the Flu way back in 1958 and was out of school for three months, and since then I have not had the flu. I get sick but not flu sick. Dr said I got the kind of flu that made my system immune. HOWEVER, I am going to get a flu shot this year.

I've never had a flu shot and it's probably been over ten years since I've had the flu. I hope I don't get it again. What's bad is I remember the last time I had it. It wasn't pretty.

When I moved overseas years ago, I had shots, and one of them - don't know which one it was - made me hate everyone for about a day. By the time I got the 3rd set in the series of shots, I was ready for it, and knew that I didn't really hate everyone, and the feeling would go away soon.

Cas
good luck with Zach.

That is so funny, I'm the same way about the flu shots, I find that taking them makes me more sick than not taking them - weird.

As for Zach, I really hope everything works out, you both deserve some good stuff for a change.

I'm still thinking about it, but my Dad always said that it always made him feel worse than going without. And then this morning I saw an ad on TV for the flu shot and the guy getting it actually yelped. It's not supposed to hurt... right??

Well I get the flu shot every year, and I get the flu every year, but not as bad as if I didn't get the shot. Now did that make sense? Heck, what to do, what to do. I got the shot three weeks ago, and have been feeling so tired since then.
Good luck! And good luck with Zach!
