Wild and Wooly Weather!

It's getting a little wild weather-wise around here this evening. While I was in West Helena this afternoon waiting at Jerri's until time for Tah Kwon Do, the tornado sirens went off twice. Apparently there were two different funnel clouds seen and one possibly touched down. Those bad boy twisters are popping up all over the place tonight.

The last photo is of the latest radar map, follow the Miss. River down from Memphis about an inch and I'm sitting right about there.

I'm outta here now, before that line of severe thunderstorms makes it here.

I sure hope the roof stays on tonight.

UPDATE: That severe thunderstorm warning turned into a tornado warning here about 5 minutes after I posted so Zach and I left James standing at the door looking out while he and I went and sat in the floor of my closet for the next 20 minutes or so. The roof stayed on, guess we'll have to go do a search for those lawn chairs again tomorrow though, they usually end up in a tree somewhere when we get bad winds and storms.

Hey! I was born in Helena and raised in Aubrey. I've still got family there so I've been watching the weather for your area all night. It's a little scary to see all of those little towns (Marvell, Turner, etc.) that are a part of "down home" for me on the news in the direct path of a possible tornado! Hope you're all OK!

I am curious about one thing Brenda....is it scary living where you have tornados all the time? I have often wondered if people really worry about it all the time...or just ignore it...or get used to it??? The same goes for earthquakes in CA or hurricanes along the coast. I guess our blizzards aren't so bad if they at least leave our towns and homes in one piece! Please, please take care and hope you all are all right!!

Good Early Morning Brenda,
"PRAISE GOD" yall are okay. It has been a Tornadic Tuesday in Arkansas for sure and Tennesee as well. I finally put up a new post and posted about some of the damages. We are okay here, but there are some around us that wasn't so lucky. The sirens went off here around 8:30p.m. and we went to my MIL's house. We only got some heavy rains and thunder and lightening here. The wind did blow a bit, but nothing major. It was just the tail end of one of those Tornadoes that was near here tho. I sure hope you find the chairs. I'm up waiting on my DH to get home. Hopefully he will be home around 3:00a.m. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours. Keep me updated on what went on down your way weather wise.

Hugs,
Karen H.

The maps showed it got a little rough in your neighborhood too Shannon. I hope ya'll made it through ok too.

Over the years I've gotten used to it Mr.Ed, but a warning still makes me nervous.

Bermudabluez, you get used to the "tornado watches" and just go about your business with an eye on the sky. A warning makes me nervous and last night was the first time in years that I've gone to the closet to wait it out.

All ok here Karen, I'll stick my head out at daylight to see if anything blew away.

It was a little hairy here for a while Crystal but we dodged the bullets.

Glad to know you made it through the weather OK! We really didn't get much here. We had a good thunderstorm and a little wind, a few pieces of hail, but nothing more than that...

My aunt who lives in Ebenezer (near Turkeyscratch) said it was rough a little while at their house, but nothing was damaged. Thank goodness!

Thanks for the comment about the girls! I'm just crazy about them, even though they drive ME crazy about half the time! HA!

I saw on the news about the horrendous problems you have been having with the weather. I hope you and yours are all fine.

We are getting lots of wind and rain too. No sirens yet thank goodness!

It's been raining so much that everything is a gross mess. I finally took Rocky out for a walk today even though it was still sprinkling. Poor guy hadn't been walked in days and was getting a little cabin fever I think.

My gosh girlfriend!! You stay safe!! Do you have a cellar to run to? Do you bungee cord yourself to the bed at night when it is stormy? Duck tape would work too!
EGADS, you are lucky! I'm so glad you are safe!

I kept listening for Lexa or helena
and did not hear them so assumed ya'll were safe. That is just too close for comfort!! I think I will stick with our volcanoes, at least we KNOW where they are, and which way they will blow!!

I was thinking of you. So glad to hear you are alright. Now I do have a better idea of where you are though. A Mississippi River gal. That was where I grew up... just up the river in Iowa though.

Stay safe. Hey Zach! How about those Blue Devils? They beat Carolina at Carolina.

I'm glad to see you are all right! And the wind did not carry you off. I am over in DeSoto County MS. We had a frightful time. Anytime, a tornado comes across the river at West Helena, I know we are in trouble! Again, glad to see you and yours are safe!
