I think mine was the bendable leg Barbie who had eyes that closed and three lovely wigs so I could change her look whenever I wanted. I think I was 11 or 12 when I found it under our tree. We only ever got one present that was a toy cause the rest were clothes or shoes that were necessities. But I truly believe our Christmases meant more to us than the materialistic holiday they call Christmas these days.
I also remember that on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter there was anything that anyone could possibly want to eat on our table. I think I looked forward to that the most.

Oh golly, I have one of those too! Just love me some Barbies! LOL
I loved my Barbies. Getting one was always my favorite gift. We always celebrated a traditional Polish dinner Christmas Eve then a big ham or turkey dinner Christmas Day. Lots of good eats!
We used to get the catalog and each would write their name next to each toy.Often something close was chosen, but a simmple present was what we could expect.
My husband and I were just talking the other day about how much Christmas present exchanges have drastically changed since we were children. We usually only got just one toy and there were always clothing gifts such as socks, underwear, pjs, mittens, etc.
Awwww, now that is just the SWEETEST photo, I love it!!
I wish my 'rememberer' was better, Ms Brenda, and there are no pictures from Christmas except one, and I was about 13 by then. I do remember that we always got clothes! :)
How precious Brenda! It was the same for us too.
Happy Monday to you!

We had very small Christmas's too, but I know Mom did the best she could. I got a Barbie one year too and I remember this swing!!
I couldn't agree with you more Ms. Brenda :)
