Gotta Get A Move On

I hate Mondays. I especially hate Mondays where I have to do something.

Today I have to:

First go to visit my little black man in Poplar Grove who is the president of the improvement district there to write a few checks and pick up a deposit to put in the bank for them.

Number two on the list is to pay my water bill.

Then I have to go into the office for a little while.

My last stop is at the grocery store.

After I get home and put all the food away, it'll be time to pick up the terrorist at school.

And wouldn't you know it? I promised him that we'd take a ride on the ATV after school.

I'd much rather stay in my robe all day and watch the vagina channel on tv.

LIFE

Life isn't like a box of chocolates....it's more like a jar of jalapenos.
What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow!

We Got The Fire!

Isn't there a song about that? Something like that has been skipping through my mind today as I've been having these miserable heat waves that travel from the inside out. I've even had to make several trips to the back deck to let that north wind with the little bite to it cool me off some.

I remember another reason I dislike winter so much. Hubby is here way too often and he wants FOOD. Yesterday I made a big pot of Chicken Spaghetti and today Bubbie and Jerri came by for Hamburger Steaks, cabbage, broiled new potatoes, and squash. It would have tasted pretty fine if someone had cooked it for me!

Another Southern Funny

A girl from the South and a girl from the North were seated side by side on a plane. The girl from the South, being friendly and all, said, "So, where ya'll from?"
The Northern girl said, "From a place where they know better than to use a preposition at the end of a sentence."
The girl from the South sat quietly for a few moments and then replied, "So, where ya'll from, bitch?"

Sunday

Just a few short years ago I was about the stupidest human to ever walk the face of the earth according to my then teenage children. I am really amazed at how bright I've become in such a short time. I've gone from trying to keep up with where my kids were and who they were seeing to keep them out of trouble to knowing where they are 24/7 cause they pretty much call or come by nearly that often. Is it love or my cooking?

Kids in Deep Thought

I believe you should live each day as if it is your last, which is why I don't have any clean laundry because, come on, who wants to wash clothes on the last day of their life?

I bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween.
-- Age 13

For centuries, people thought the moon was made of green cheese. Then the astronauts found that the moon is really a big hard rock. That's what happens to cheese when you leave it out.
-- Age 6

I gaze at the brilliant full moon. The same one, I think to myself, at which Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato gazed. Suddenly, I imagine they appear beside me. I tell Socrates about the national debate over one's right to die and wonder at the constancy of the human condition. I tell Plato that I live in the country that has come the closest to Utopia, and I show him a copy of the Constitution. I tell Aristotle that we have found many more than four basic elements and I show him a periodic table. I get a box of kitchen matches and strike one. They gasp with wonder. We spend the rest of the night lighting farts.

I'd read the paper more if,,,,,,,

Stuff like this made the front page Headlines.

White River, SD (AP) - A man mistook common hair spray for the newly marketed body spray and woke up glued to his plastic-covered couch.

Last night around 9 pm, Larry Gelsing of White River, South Dakota, wasn't feeling too fresh. Like he always does when this happens, he walked to the bathroom to spray on his Adidas brand body spray. Only this time was different.

After having a 12-pack since getting off work at the Handi Mart, Gelsing's judgement was slightly impaired. Instead of grabbing his trusty body spray to liven up his night, he mistakenly snatched his wife's White Rain Firm Hold hair spray. Not a good move.

At 7 am the next morning, he awoke on his couch to the family dog "Lucky" licking his face; apparently passing out after returning to the couch later that night. When Gelsing realized what had happened and that he couldn't move (thanks to the immense body hair he inherited), he almost panicked.

Thinking quickly, he called out to his wife Paula, who ran in the room flabberghasted at what she saw, "I just didn't know what to do, he looked so helpless." 911 was called and the White River Fire Department came to the rescue eventually using a makeshift cocktail of readily available home products to get him free: peanut butter, vinegar and KY jelly.

"If Paula only used the Regular Hold White Rain, we might not have needed to be called," stated Troy Harmon, fire department chief.

"Yeah, I don't know what would have happened if we hadn't covered our couch with that plastic ... I might still be stuck to it," remarked Larry. When asked what the first thing that went through his mind was, he replied, "Well, I just remember all that dog spit in my face and not being able to get away from it. I thought I was on one helluva drug trip!"

Find a place to put your stuff, and keep it there!

This is a many times repeated plea to my husband. Every time he decides on a little hunting trip, there is a tour through the house to search cupboards, on top of cupboards, and cabinets, in closets, and the utility room to search for his stuff. I gave up a long time ago in trying to put all of his things in one place in hopes that he'd keep them there.

Never mind that we built the little shed for him to store his stuff in. The doors blew off in a storm a couple of years ago, and they continue to be propped inside the shed somewhere. Besides, there isn't much room to maneuver around the ATV to search for stuff since he decided that would be a good place to park it. Instead, the built-in cupboard in the master bath, and the drawers and atop the cabinets in the kitchen, consistently accumulate his prizes. If I question this, his reply is, "it was empty, so I put something in it."

So, open a drawer in the bathroom and you may find shotgun shells, and his dog training collar, with charger. Dare to climb on a chair and dust the tops of kitchen cabinets and there might be old marbles, jars, bottles, an indian arrowhead, or tool. The bottom kitchen drawer holds a cordless screwdriver with a box of bits, and various other tools that he's brought inside for whatever reason that didn't get back to the toolbox in his truck.

I believe I have grounds for insanity defense.

The haircolor didn't change things,,,,,,,

It seems that a little hair color doesn't change the facts about who you are. I'm still managing to do at least one really ditzy blonde thing about once a day.

Today's lessons?

Read the labels on the little sofa throw pillows before tossing them in the wash. Spot clean does not mean you can wash the damn things. I know this now after cleaning out all the wet, mushy pillow fillings from my washer.

Do not assume that just because you screwed up the first batch of bread in the bread machine the last time you made bread that you will not do this the next time you decide to make bread. You can and will.

Clowning Chickie

I know ya'll must get tired of this Nanny showing off her munchkins, but I just had to share this one.

15 PIECES OF ADVICE TO BE PASSED ON TO YOUR DAUGHTERS and BEST FRIENDS.

1. Don't imagine you can change a man - unless he's in diapers.
2. What do you do if your boyfriend walks-out? You shut the door.
3. If they put a man on the moon - they should be able to put them all up there.
4. Never let your man's mind wander - it's too little to be out alone.
5. Go for younger men. You might as well - they never mature anyway.
6. Men are all the same - they just have different faces, so that you can tell them apart.
7. Definition of a bachelor; a man who has missed the opportunity to make some woman miserable.
8. Women don't make fools of men - most of them are the do-it-yourself types.
9. Best way to get a man to do something, is to suggest he is too old for it.
10. Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye-opener.
11. If you want a committed man, look in a mental hospital.
12. The children of Israel wandered around the desert for 40 years. Even in biblical times, men wouldn't ask for directions.
13. If he asks what sort of books you're interested in, tell him checkbooks.
14. Remember a sense of humor does not mean that you tell him jokes, it means that you laugh at his.
15. Sadly, all men are created equal.

Redneckdom

A few more favorites from my collection.

Another John Strain contribution

Chilly Friday

I got around to covering my shivering, chill bump covered, old butt up this morning and drove into the office, with the terrorist in tow, to do the payroll and tax deposit. Got it done in record time and told em I'd see them again Monday if I had to.

I finally turned the heat on here at the house so imagine my distress to find out the heater isn't working in my freakin truck. I had it in the shop twice last spring because the air wouldn't come on and the heat wouldn't go off. I guess I know how they fixed it now, don't I? I'll be damned if I'm paying them another 250 for labor for their freaky-ass engineering.

Redneck Dentures

Yep, I Scrapbook

We even have scrapbooking get-to-gethers in our family. My sister is a Creative Memories Rep so we have to all get together a few times a year to see all the new goodies and it's fun to help each other out when working on a project.

One page of the "brag" book.

Scrapbooking

I've been sorting through photo files and stacks of old photos that others have given me since the fire last year so that I can do some work on my scrapbooks. It's raining today so I think it might be a good day to drag all that stuff out and play.

Dec. 2000 at Jerri and Bubbie's wedding. Of course we have 3 more little ones now.

Dec 1974 with my oldest daughter, Trish. She was almost 3.

I had this photo taken for Hubby's on Fathers Day in 1998 I think.
