Lord Send Down Some Wisdom and Patience, Please!

When did I become so dumb? When did 4th grade addition gain these properties; Cummutative, Associative, and Identity before advanced math and calculus levels?
How am I ever going to remember what I've forgotten (trying to recall if I ever knew) about these things?

And what in the devil (sorry about that) is a spool report really supposed to be?

Maybe I should run away and become a hobo, or maybe a superstar.
What do you think?

I'm weary.

And my body hurts all over.

Amen!

I vote for superstar then you'd have 'people' to do the spool reports.

[scratches head, wondering if I ever knew that stuff too]

Don't look at me...I'm just glad my kids are now grown and don't need me to help them with their math homework! lol

Math is the reason we sent out daughter public school in 9th grade. I sure can relate to your frustrations.

I don't know any of those terms either. Things just keep changing.

Cas
good luck in your newest math career.

In college I minored in English. I have a degree in Social Science (5-12). My son brought home his freshman English grammar. It seems to me they are purposely making things more difficult. I mean, I did well in grammar. Writing is not difficult for me but he had grammar problems that I have never in my life heard or seen before.

Once I delved into it I discovered that a lot of it is just different names for things like pronouns, adverbs, etc...

My conclusion is they just want parents to believe that the schools know-it-all. Grammar is grammar and changing the name does not make a verb less active.

Oh, Ms. Brenda; I feel for you! But, I'm sure you're doing a much better job at this than I ever could have!

I know how you feel; I had to hand over the help with math when my kids hit 7th grade, but that's been a few years now, so it's probably about the same as 4th grade now.
