Even here in Podunt it's up to $2.90 for regular. And I reckon it's only going to get worse. I guess it's a small (yeah right) price to pay. After all those big oil companies have to answer to their stockholders. It's profit above all else. I'm either going to start looking for one of those 'scooter' thingy's or put a paypal link on my blog asking for donations. It's hard to decide which will be less humiliating.
Sadly brenda, the transportation systems in Blighty (unless yu live in London) are appalling: horrendously expensive, unreliable, infrequent and with frequent breakdowns.
As a result, many people feel there is no alternative to their cars - especially those in the countryside, where there is often only 1 bus in and 1 bus out each day (and at the most stupid hours of the day).
We have the highest petrol prices in Europe here, the highest public transport costs and now they (the Gov't) are considering charging us by the mile (at variable rates during the day) to use the roads which our high fuel duties supposedly paid for.
We are already beginning to see the first signs of people becoming jobless because they can't afford to travel to a workplace.

ReplyDeleteThe price of petrol is going up here to. I'm not sure exactly what it is but it must be about £5 a gallon so about $7-8!

All over Europe they have mass transit available. In the U.S. you have no such options unless you live in the large cities.
